Training the Millennial Generation

Retaining talented employees can be challenging especially with the new generation of candidates entering the workforce. Academic Analytics

In the corporate world, analytics have been employed for some time to support the decision making process, as well as improve the effectiveness of training initiatives. Analytics encompass the gathering, analysis and manipulation of data, which can then be used to identify trends, propose possible courses of action, and evaluate the outcome of each through predictive modeling.

The same types of analytics are being increasingly applied in the academic arena in order to bolster student success, which is commonly measured in terms of student retention and graduation rates.
As graduates with college degrees earn 62 percent more on average, student success benefits not only the students and the institutions in question but the society as a whole through higher tax payments and less reliance on public support programs.

In this week's blog article, e-literate's Michael Feldstein features a must-read paper by Campbell and Oblinger exploring the application of Academic Analytics.
